Parks

Brio Park

Good for families in La Habra, Brea, or east Fullerton who don't want to drive to a beach.

Parks

Portola Park

Ten acres right next to the La Habra Children's Museum at 301 S Euclid St same parking lot, so hit both in one trip. Dinosaur-themed playground with a fire truck, trains on tracks to walk around, monkey bars, shaded play area, and an inclusive swing. Three ball fields and tennis courts for older kids.

Splash pads

Brio Park Splash Pad

Swim diapers required for non-potty-trained.

Splash pads

Oeste Park Splash Pad

Rocket ship-themed spray equipment a bit more niche than Brio but great for the space-obsessed kid. Located at 2300 W Lambert Rd, runs the same seasonal schedule as Brio. Less crowded than Brio on weekday mornings.

Museums and learning

La Habra Children's Museum

A solid children's museum specifically designed for the under-10 set highlights include a 1942 caboose you can actually explore, an outdoor dinosaur garden, a STEAM Lab with a magnetic tube wall, a flight lab tower, and a fossil dig site. Hands-on throughout, not a 'look don't touch' museum. Located right next to Brio Park so you can hit both in one trip.

Active play

La Habra Skatepark

Conveniently located near the La Habra Children's Museum and Brio Park, so it's easy to combine with other activities in the area.

Kid-friendly food

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant

La Habra neighborhood Mexican that's been feeding families for decades big plates of enchiladas, chile verde, and the kind of chips and salsa you keep going back to before the food arrives. The dining room is casual and loud enough that a restless kid isn't a crisis. Locals drive past the chains to come here. Great for feeding a group without breaking the bank.

Kid-friendly food

Tacos El Gavilan

Street-style taqueria with a devoted La Habra following birria tacos and quesabirria with the consomé for dipping are the order. The kind of spot where the line out the door is a good sign, not a deterrent. Kids who have graduated to real tacos will be converted. Order multiple; they disappear fast.

Seasonal

La Habra Corn Festival

Three-day community festival in late August hosted by the La Habra Lions Club one of the oldest summer parades in Southern California. Carnival rides, games, food vendors, live music, and yes, a lot of corn on the cob. Good alternative if you want something more local-scaled than the OC Fair.
