Who We Are

Small Batch Ventures LLC operates Shitty Mom Guide (the newsletter and website at shittymomguide.com) and Frankie by SMG (an SMS-based weekend planning assistant for Orange County parents). Questions: frances@shittymomguide.com

What We Collect

For the newsletter (Beehiiv): your email address and any preferences you set.

For Frankie (SMS): when you join, we collect:

• Your first name or the name you go by, and your email address (for your Friday plan email)
• Your city or general location in Orange County
• Your children's ages, and any notes you choose to share about them, such as a school or an allergy (only to plan outings that fit your family)
• Your activity interests and preferences
• Your phone number (via your SMS opt-in)
• Messages sent to Frankie (for conversation context)
• Google Calendar access token (optional — only if you choose to connect)

We do not ask for your full legal name, and we do not collect payment information directly. Stripe handles payments separately and we do not store card details.

For the website (shittymomguide.com): we use Netlify's built-in analytics (privacy-respecting, no cookies, no cross-site tracking).

Email engagement. When we send you a Frankie email, we can see whether it was opened and which links you tapped. This works through a small invisible image in the message and by routing links through our email provider. We use it to tell whether the weekend plans are actually useful - which picks people open, which ones nobody touches. It doesn't tell us anything about you outside of that email.

How We Use It

• To send the weekly Shitty Mom Guide newsletter (Thursdays)
• To generate personalized weekend plans and recommendations via Frankie
• To send Friday morning briefings (Frankie)
• To check Google Calendar availability (if connected)
• To improve recommendations over time

We do not sell your data. We do not share your information with advertisers or third parties except as necessary to operate the services (e.g., Anthropic API for Frankie's AI, Beehiiv for newsletter delivery, Telnyx for Frankie texts, Resend for Frankie emails).

Google Calendar

Connecting Google Calendar is entirely optional. If you connect it, Frankie checks when you're busy so it doesn't plan over your commitments, and adds events to your calendar only when you ask. Frankie never deletes or changes events it did not create. Calendar tokens are encrypted. You can disconnect at any time by messaging Frankie "disconnect my calendar" or through your Google Account settings.

SMS / Frankie

By signing up for your Frankie trial and confirming your phone number, you consent to receive recurring SMS messages from Shitty Mom Guide. Message frequency varies: usually 1 to 4 messages per week (your Friday weekend plan, plus occasional check-ins, weather heads-ups, tips and account notices), and replies when you text Frankie. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to cancel at any time (this also cancels your Frankie subscription); text STOPTIPS to keep only your Friday plan. Text HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Data Retention

Your data persists while your account or subscription is active. To permanently delete your profile, preferences, and conversation history, text "delete my data" to Frankie or email frances@shittymomguide.com. We confirm the request right away, cancel any subscription, and complete the deletion within 30 days.

Your Rights

You can access your data, request deletion, or opt out at any time. For newsletter: unsubscribe link in every email. For Frankie: text STOP to cancel. For data deletion requests: text Frankie "delete my data" or email frances@shittymomguide.com.

Email tracking. Blocking images in your email app stops open tracking. You can also turn Frankie's emails off entirely - every one has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Children's Privacy

Our services are intended for adults (parents). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Age information you provide refers to your own children for the purpose of generating age-appropriate activity recommendations.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest for sensitive data. No transmission method over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify active Frankie users via SMS and newsletter subscribers via email.
