Our Commitment
Shitty Mom Guide is committed to making our website usable for everyone, including people who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, and screen magnification. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we treat it as part of how we build and maintain the site.
Standard We Aim For
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities. We test our pages against these standards and fix issues we find.
What We've Done
- Color and text contrast reviewed across the site to meet WCAG AA minimums.
- Text can be resized and the page can be zoomed on mobile.
- Images include descriptive alternative text.
- Form fields (like the newsletter signup) have proper labels.
- Links within text are underlined, not signaled by color alone.
- The site works with keyboard navigation and has visible focus outlines.
Third-Party Content
Some parts of the site rely on third-party tools — for example, the interactive map and the newsletter signup form. We choose accessible providers where we can, but we don't fully control the accessibility of content served by others.
Tell Us If Something's Wrong
If you run into a barrier on this site, or you need information in a different format, we want to hear about it and we'll do our best to fix it promptly. Please email frances@shittymomguide.com and, if you can, tell us the page and what happened.
