Beaches That
Actually
Work

Nobody with a toddler needs the prettiest beach. They need the shortest walk from the car, water that won't knock a two-year-old over, a real bathroom, and shade. This is OC's beaches ranked on exactly that — not the view.

The Tier List

S = easy mode with a toddler. A = great with one tradeoff. B = fine if you're nearby. Skip = beautiful, but it'll fight you solo with a two-year-old.

Know a Beach?

Tell us what it was actually like with your kid — the walk from parking, the bathrooms, the shade, the water. Every submission gets a look before it changes the list.

Common Questions

What makes a beach good for a toddler?

Not the view. A short walk from the car to the sand, calm or gentle water, a real bathroom with a rinse-off, some shade, and space a wagon can actually cross. This list ranks beaches on those things, not on how they photograph.

What do the tiers mean?

S-Tier means easy mode with a toddler — short walk, calm water, real bathrooms. A-Tier is great with one tradeoff. B-Tier works if you're already nearby or plan around the catch. Skip means it's a beautiful beach that fights you when you're solo with a two-year-old.

How do I add a beach or correct one?

Use the form above — beach name, city, and what it was actually like with your kid: parking walk, bathrooms, shade, and the water. Frances checks every submission before it changes the list.

Beaches change with the tide, the season, and the lifeguard schedule. A calm morning is not a promise for a windy afternoon — check conditions before you load the car.
